The Estonian Journal of Earth Sciences is committed to Open Access publishing, and belongs to the so-called Gold Open Access group of journals (see the ‘Copyright and Licensing Policy’ section for further explanation).
The journal applies the least restricting Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License CC-BY to all articles (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). It means that all articles become freely accessible once published. This allows anyone to read, download, save, copy, print and distribute the paper in any medium or format, and remix, transform and build upon the paper for any purpose, including commercially, as long as the original authors and source are cited. In doing so, no permission is required from the authors or the publishers. For full details on Creative Commons licensing conditions check https://creativecommons.org.
To cover publication costs of the papers, the Estonian Academy Publishers charges a publication fee of €500 per publication of papers up to 12 printed pages. The publication fee of articles up to 12 printed pages will be waived by the Estonian Academy of Sciences to the authors whose work was supported by Estonian granting agencies or other Estonian funding bodies and the authors have explicitly stated this information in the Acknowledgements section. For all longer papers than 12 printed pages an additional page charge of €62 will be requested for each extra page. The authors are asked to cover all costs for colour printing (online-only colour illustrations are free of charge). See the Instructions to Authors for pricing and additional details.
The Estonian Journal of Earth Sciences is listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (https://doaj.org/toc).
Digital copies of all issues and individual papers published are deposited in the Estonian National Library Digital Archive DIGAR (http://www.digar.ee/arhiiv/en).
